Itinerario:

Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Azrou – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert

From the Imperial City to the Edge of the Sahara

Your trip begins early in the morning, departing from your accommodation in Fez, one of Morocco’s oldest and most spiritual cities. The route south will take you through the picturesque Middle Atlas Mountains, passing cedar forests, alpine villages, and wide valleys.

Stop in Ifrane – “The Switzerland of Morocco”

Our first stop will be Ifrane, a charming town known for its Swiss-style architecture, clean streets, and cool climate. It’s a unique spot in Morocco and perfect for photography.

Azrou Cedar Forest – Encounter with the Barbary Apes

We continue to Azrou, famous for its cedar forest and the Barbary macaques that inhabit it. A short walk will allow you to interact with these playful monkeys in their natural habitat.

Lunch in Midelt – Gateway to the Mountains

We’ll stop for lunch in Midelt, a small town located between the Middle and High Atlas Mountains. It’s the ideal midpoint to relax and enjoy traditional Moroccan cuisine.

Ziz Valley – Palm Trees and Desert Landscapes

As the landscape transforms into arid plains, we enter the stunning Ziz Valley, famous for its sprawling palm groves and the river that winds through the valley floor.

Arrival in Merzouga – Camel Ride at Sunset

In the late afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga, the gateway to the Erg Chebbi dunes. Your camel caravan awaits you here. Guided by local experts, you’ll explore the dunes during the «golden hour,» enjoying a spectacular sunset over the Sahara.

Night in a Luxury Desert Camp

Upon arrival at your luxury Berber camp, you’ll be greeted with mint tea and warm Moroccan hospitality. After a delicious dinner, gather around the campfire to enjoy traditional music and drumming under a starry sky.

Day 2: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi Exploration – Nomads – Khamlia – Sandboarding

Sunrise over the Dunes

Wake up early to witness the sunrise over the Sahara, a moment of peace and natural beauty. After breakfast, continue your adventure with a 4×4 excursion around Erg Chebbi.

Visit to Nomadic Families

Meet nomadic Berber families who live in tents and move according to the seasons of the desert. You’ll discover their ancient way of life and deeply rooted traditions.

Khamlia Village – Gnaua Music and Culture

We’ll stop in Khamlia, a small village inhabited by descendants of sub-Saharan Africans. Enjoy a live performance of Gnawa music, a deeply spiritual and rhythmic art form.

Fossils, Lakes and Panoramic Views

Explore seasonal lakes (such as Dayet Srij during the rainy season), fossil quarries, and panoramic viewpoints where the dunes stretch to the horizon.

Lunch and Free Time in Merzouga

We will return to the village of Merzouga for a traditional lunch. The afternoon will be free to enjoy activities such as:

  • Sandboarding in the dunes

  • Relax in your desert accommodation

  • Optional: quad or buggy ride

Second Night in the Sahara

Tonight, you can choose between spending another night at the desert camp or staying in a comfortable hotel in the area. Enjoy dinner and a second evening under the magical starry Sahara sky.

Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Fez

Farewell to the Sahara

After breakfast, we will depart Merzouga to begin the return journey to Fez, once again traveling through the Ziz Valley, Midelt, and the Middle Atlas Mountains.

Visit to Rissani – Cradle of the Alaouite Dynasty

Along the way, we’ll stop in Rissani, a historic town famous for its traditional market, adobe ksars, and rich cultural heritage. It was an important caravan center and is considered the birthplace of the current Moroccan royal family.
